2018 Fall District Reports

Dave Gifford, West Central District --  West Central district provided the Member and County Spotlight for September.

Ben Greenberg, Southeast District --  I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, which is going by way too fast.

We had a nice turnout at our district meeting a few weeks ago and some very good discussion was generated.

We discussed the WCCA mission statement, which was distributed at the meeting.  The board has asked the membership to look at our mission statement and think about whether it is still relevant or should be updated.

Renee Powers (DOA – Plat Review) made a great presentation on more recent changes to Chapter 236 and the Plat review process.  Many of us in the SE District are seeing a big increase in new platting activity and older inactive projects coming back online. I strongly encourage everyone to take a look at new changes, as many counties are following older processes event though a lot has changed.  If you have any specific questions please contact Renee and the folks at Plat Review.

The other items that generated most of the discussion were Act 67 - Conditional Use Permits and Act 183 - changes to non-federal wetland regulations.

One important takeaway from the Act 183 discussion was that THE LAW ONLY APPLIES TO NON-FEDERAL WETLANDS.  The DNR has to issue an exemption letter stating that the wetland is not subject to Federal regulations.

Jay Kozlowski, Northwest District -- NW District Meeting September 26 in Hayward

Dave Sadenwasser, Northeast District --  Things are busy in the Northeast District as we move towards fall and the colors are beginning to change.  We do not meet again until December, so there will be more news and notes at that time.  Have a great fall everyone!

Other than that, the late spring has developed into summer.  Be safe out there everyone!

Adam Wiegel, Southwest District -- No Report

Jeff Brewbaker, Central District -- Wood County will be hosting a Workshop for Zoning Boards of Adjustment & Appeals on Thursday, October 18, 2018, 6:00 – 9:00 PM.  The location is not in the Courthouse but at the recently purchased River Block Building.   The address is:  Wood County River Block Building, Room 206; 111 West Jackson Street; Wisconsin Rapids, WI  54495.  If you would like more information you can contact Lynn Markham (715) 346-3879 or Jeff Brewbaker (715)421-8466.
